Parent Association

The elected committee of the Parent Association is charged with the organisation of the association’s events and activities. The purpose of these events and activities is not only to raise funds for the school but also, more importantly, to cultivate a sense of community which is welcoming and inclusive. Chairperson’s Greeting – March 2011 Newsletter
Dear Parent / Guardian
It is hard to believe that we are already issuing our second newsletter for the current academic year. We have been busy since our December newsletter and thank you for supporting our activities to date.
A very successful book fair was held in November 2010 and the children seemed to really enjoy browsing through the books and deciding on which book to purchase. The book fair sales amounted to circa €7,500 and this gave rise to a commission figure for the school of €4,500.
This is a fantastic sum of money which will be reinvested in books for the classrooms libraries
and the junior and senior school libraries.
Due to the bad weather in December it was decided to defer our annual Family Christmas Carol Evening but thankfully the bad weather did not stop a very important visitor reaching the school. Santa Claus arrived in the school on Thursday 23rd December much to the delight of the children who had lots to tell the man in red.
Thank you most sincerely to all who contributed the annual affiliation fee to the Parents Association during January 2011.
The cake sale was held on 16th February and raised the sum of €2,835. We would like to express our appreciation to everyone who gave generously of their time and baking skills. Of course a big thank you goes to the children and to everyone else who bought cakes on the day. To see the faces of the children as they come in to the hall to choose their cakes makes all the effort really worth while, they had so much fun on the day.
A School Uniform Survey was issued by the committee of the Parent Association and the number of responses we received was very encouraging. We received completed survey forms relating to 555 children attending St Patrick. The committee are delighted with the feedback received and are currently working on correlating the information contained therein. Survey results will be issued in the coming months. A big you thank you to all who returned completed survey forms.
On 31st March we held our annual table quiz in The Royal Hotel, Bray; this was a really enjoyable evening of tough questions accompanied by lots of laughter. A huge thank you goes to David & Orla Ferry, who once again were quiz masters on the night. The sum of € 2,115 was raised on the night, and I thank everyone who attended or supported the night in any way.
As you can see this is another busy term for the Parents’ Association and we hope to see as many of you as possible at our forthcoming events.
