Principal's Welcome

Welcome to our school website! This is a special year for us as we celebrate our 80th anniversary in September. St. Patrick’s Loreto Primary School, Bray is a highly regarded Loreto school that has been providing primary education to the local community since 1946. We are a large primary school with a real community feel. We are an inclusive school that welcomes children of all faiths and no faith. Underpinned by the Loreto ethos and the Mary Ward values of Truth, Justice, Freedom, Sincerity and Joy, it is my privilege to lead this vibrant and diverse school community as we continue to grow and develop now and into the future.

I firmly believe that children do best when families, the school and the local community work together in partnership. Alongside our dedicated staff, Board of Management, Parents’ Association, families and pupils, we strive to provide a holistic education to all the children in our care.

There are so many opportunities for our children within the school. We have a very active, engaged and dynamic Student Council, Green Schools Committee, School of Sanctuary and Health Promoting School Committees. We are blessed with our outdoor space and have a large field, basketball courts and several yard and green spaces for our children to play in. Our Outdoor Classroom is a firm favourite too!

We provide a range of sporting opportunities throughout the school day. Examples include GAA, football, rugby, hockey and basketball, to name but a few! We are the current reigning GAA Wicklow Division 1 and Division 3 Champions, FAI 5s Mid Leinster Champions and Leinster Primary School Girls Hockey League semi-finalists. To support children’s creative development, we provide Drama classes, are involved in a Teacher Artist Partnership and are part of local Creative Clusters projects with our neighbouring schools. We have a long history of taking part in the National Children's Choir and we are looking forward to this again in 2027. We also offer a wide variety of after-school clubs and activities.

There are exciting times ahead for our school as we continue to move to a fully vertical co-educational school. In September 2026 we will have girls and boys in Junior Infants, Senior Infants, 1st Class, 2nd Class and Autism Class, and girls only in 3rd – 6th Class. Any child (boy or girl) who joins us this year in Junior Infants - 2nd Class will be able to complete their primary education all the way to 6th Class.

I hope that you find this website useful and it provides a window into all that we do here. I look forward to meeting you,

Anne-Marie McGovern, Principal
